Hulhumale, Central Maldives

Join us on a 4 day / 4 night & 8 dives land-based exploration of the vibrant waters surrounding the Maldivian island of Male, home to colorful and bustling reefs nourished by nutrients from Indian Ocean currents. Expect thrilling pelagic encounters with tiger sharks, great hammerheads, lemon sharks, bull sharks, spinner sharks, guitar sharks, fantail and marble stingrays, mantas (between months of May to October) and more — all in one epic trip.

Note: All schedules are subject to changes according to weather, sea, diving, & local conditions.

Day 1. (0 dives) Arrive at the Velana International Aiport (MLE) by end of day, where staff from our partner hotel h78 will pick you up and check you in for the night.

Day 2-3.(3 dives x2 days) Dive Hulhumale’s famed Shark Tank, where stingrays and all kinds of sharks abound.  Catch a glimpse or have extended encounters with the awe-inspiring tiger sharks, spinner and lemon sharks, as well as the elusive great hammerhead shark.  Enjoy other beautiful dive sites such as Banana Reef, Fish Tank, Embudhoo Channel, Kuda Giri wreck, and Manta Point.

Day 4.(2 dives) On your last diving day, explore sites you wish to dive again, or venture to other sites you have not dived on previous days.

How to get to and from Male (MLE), Maldives

  • Our trips start and finish in Hulhumale. There are multiple daily flights across different airlines which should allow you to easily schedule your international flight to and from Velana International Airport.
  • Upon your arrival, the hotel staff will be there to collect you from the airport at the time of your flight’s scheduled arrival (trip departure date ONLY). Please ensure that you arrive by end of day of the first day of the trip and start your diving well-rested and refreshed on the second day. If arriving in the days prior to trip departure, then you will need to make your own way to your accommodations. 

Dive Site Information

  • Water Temp: 27-30 degrees Celsius, Air Temp: 27-32 degrees Celsius
  • Visibility: 15-30 meters, Current: Mild to strong, Level: Beginner to intermediate
  • Best Time to Dive: Central Maldives is a great diving destination year-round due to its tropical climate and warm water temperatures. Dry season is between November to April offers best visibility, while the rainy season between May to October are peak seasons for seeing mantas and whale sharks.

What’s included?

  • Land transfer to and from airport/hotel/dive boat, all nights’ twin-share accommodation at h78 or equivalent hotel, daily hotel breakfast, lunch onboard the dive boat on full diving days (days 2 and 3), drinks and snacks, 8 Nitrox guided dives, 12-liter air tanks, weights & belt, towel & drink after every dive.
  • *Single occupancy option available at an additional USD260 per trip.
  • If arranging your own accommodation, trip price is USD790/ pax. We can provide pick up and drop off on diving days (if within Hulhumale, free of charge, if outside Hulhumale, transport charges will apply).

  • All flights, pick-ups outside trip start and end dates, all dinners, dive & travel insurance
  • Fuel Surcharge fee: US$50 per person.  To be settled onboard trip.
  • Full set dive gear rental: Full Set USD100/ trip (BCD, Regulator, Wetsuit, Fins, Mask, SMB, and Reef hook). Excludes large tank, torch, and dive computer) ONLY if paid in advance of the trip, else individual rates apply per diving day**: BCD (USD15), Regulator (USD15), wetsuit (USD10), fins (USD10), mask (USD10), dive computer (USD15), large tank (USD15), torch** (USD15)
  • Note: Diving gear items priced per diving day** and are subject to availability.
  • Note: Exposure suits: 3mm shorty wetsuits available ONLY.
  • Note**: Torch rental is based on each use/sunset dive.

    Trip Schedule

    • Departure: 7am, 2nd day.Please ensure that you arrive by end of day of the first day of the trip and start your diving well-rested and refreshed.
    • Last dive ends: 12pm, last diving day. Plenty of time for R&R. This also allows for your minimum 18 hours’ surface interval/ No Fly Time (as recommended by PADI) before flying the next day.

      Additional Trip Information

      Travel Documents

      • Tourist visa is granted for all nationalities on arrival to the Maldives. As such, a foreigner travelling to Maldives as a tourist does not require pre-approval for the visa. However, the person must satisfy the basic entry requirements to get immigration clearance upon arrival. Please visit this link (Maldives Immigration) to check that you satisfy all entry requirements.
      • Passport. Please ensure your passport is in good order, at least 2 blank pages, is valid for at least 6 months, and that you are able to enter the Maldives..  Note: Late receipt of Passport details may very likely lead to delayed departure & significant changes to the itinerary.

      Health & Insurance

      • Dive Insurance: Compulsory for this trip.  We also strongly advise you to get adequate travel insurance. Please check your travel insurance policy for your diving needs.  If not covered, then we recommend DiveAssure for their single trip policy cover.
      • Dive Computer: Compulsory on this trip.  We have rentals onboard if you do not have.
      • Follow Safe Diving Practices at ALL times plus No Deco Diving and No Solo Diving.
      • Dive & Travel insurance are compulsory for our trips. Our trips are not inclusive of any form of insurance. White Manta Diving cannot be held responsible for any trip disruption or cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control or any flight / hotel expenses. This includes any costs resulting in delay/ medical/ extraction/ or trip costs, refusal of admittance to the country or your trip, before, during or after. We strongly recommend all guests purchase adequate travel insurance, as such an occurrence will affect all guests on trip.   For more details see our Booking Information page, travel insurance section.

      Internet/ Mobile

      • Satellite Wi-Fi available on our boat.
      • You can purchase an e-SIM for use in the Maldives online or from Velana International Airport.

      Trip Extras payment onboard

      • We prefer USD, but we can also accept Singapore Dollar or Euros onboard. If you wish to make onboard payments in another currency please check with us in advance of departure.
      • Please ensure ALL bills are in good order; new, NOT worn or torn and unmarked or they will NOT be accepted. Exchange rates will be determined at the time of payment and will differ for USD100/50 bills and USD20/10 bills. Credit card payments onboard can be accepted with a 4.5% merchant fee added.
